In the last week of July we had a visit from a team of volunteers from Kids Around the World. This U.S. based organisation sent children’s workers and teachers to help conduct a Christian teacher training workshop here in Masaka and to encourage schools to join the Christian Schools Association (Uganda). Megan, as the office volunteer in the CSA(U) office, had been working hard to help organise the details of their visit on this end.
While they were in Masaka they heard about the Timothy Centre and decided to make a visit one afternoon to see the construction progress and learn more about the programs we will offer here: the Timothy Girls’ College for senior level secondary students, the teacher and leadership development programs, and the sustainable farming and entrepreneurship programs for the community. Some of the team members are working with the Association for Christian Schools International, and offered to try to mobilize Christian teachers back in the U.S. to help with our work here.
The other project the team was involved in was the construction of a playground at one of the CSA(U) member schools located about a half hour away from Masaka. This school works with very needy children and was started by a retired couple from Manitoba, Canada who have dedicated their ‘sunset years’ to helping children in Uganda.
Thank you to Kids Around the World and God bless you for giving!
